The Sydenham Community Curling Club is looking to hire a Sports and Events Manager. This role is 35 hours for the months of September to March and is reduced to 15 hours a week April through August. There is the potential for more hours with more events such as wedding that will raise this demand. Sport and Events Manager Job Responsibilities:

Implements all club/board approved policies and agreements

Answer the phones and maintain scheduled office hours

Maintain a record for key distribution (Excludes Lockers)

Maintain health inspection standards for the kitchen and ensure adherence to contractual commitments

Maintain safe working environment that is compliant to the Ontario Health & Safety Act
-
Maintain Kitchen and supplies
-
Lounge set up for meetings and special events
-
Manages the maintenance of the facility and reports any issues to the Building Director
-
Renew advertising contracts and with assistance of the Advertising Director, source new advertising opportunities
-
Promote/Rent facility: Communicate with the Bar Manager and the Financial Office to ensure accurate billing.

Add materials to the one drive and maintain accurate controls for specific board members and staff.

Assist with Grants – Writing and follow up records (Excludes providing the financials)
-
Analyze and provide solutions for problematic situations and occurrences (e.g. Conflict between members, athletes and guests)

Provide oversight of the pro shop and maintain both curling and pickleball inventory during appropriate seasons. Merchandise inventory and maximize profits.

Renew Liquor License and apply for special occasion permits

Submit all receipts to Financial Manager

Attend Board Meetings and present monthly reports on the execution of the assigned tasks.

Other duties assigned by the Board of Directors

Maintain regular communication with staff members

Manage and schedule the cleaner and ensure the facility is clean and well maintained

Promote/Rent facility – contracts, scheduling on online calendar, customer requests, entry to building and follow up with deposit return if applicable

Communicate with the Bar Manager and the Financial Manager to ensure accurate billing and scheduling information is shared

With assistance from the Membership Director, execute registration
-
Work with the finance office to update changes to the website and maintain online registration system

Corresponding with SCCC membership
-
Create an annual calendar to be approved by the Board of Directors
-
Update membership forms with current dues, ensure waivers are available at the bar and maintain a membership database
-
Work with the Communications Director to ensure our social media presence is current and effective
-
Communicate with the Director responsible for the leagues and bonspiels to establish annual goals and support operations
-
Assist the main bonspiels – The Rusty Nail, The All Ontario Farmers Bonspiel and Crazy Legs
-
Organize club jitneys as scheduled on the calendar, including the Club Championships
-
Promote our Little Rocks Program and assist in the development of our Jr. Program
-
Promote our Learn to Curl program and ensure a smooth transition from LTC to league play
-
Promote the elementary program and assist with finding instructional volunteers
-
Organize instructional programs throughout the season for members and non-members
-
Organize a pickleball committee to execute leagues
-
Create Pickleball tournaments

Maintain equipment
-
Maintain inventory in the Pro Shop
