Sydenham Community Curling Club Awarded Seniors Community Grant

Our Curling Club was successful in securing a $25,000 grant from the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility. The focus of the grant according to Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “is to provide funding for so many programs that bring older people together to avoid being socially isolated, learn new skills, get fit, enjoy group activities and stay connected to their neighbours and friends.” The SCCC  was chosen because we are creating something exciting and new at the club in an arena/space that was being underutilized.

To help achieve these goals the SCC is launching two Pickleball initiatives. The first is a Free Learn to Pickleball Clinic. All you need to do is sign up and show up in your shorts and running shoe – we will have the racquets and balls. Our team will teach you all about the game – it’s easy, fun and well good exercise. The second initiative is the Summer 2024 Pickleball League. We have 2 league nights to choose from and 4 indoor courts. And once you are finished playing you can enjoy a refreshing drink in our air conditioned licensed lounge. Click here for full details

The Sydenham Curling Community Curling Club members already know how to have fun with sport and they want to share with the community this great space.  Maybe a pickleball player will become a curler. That is the ultimate goal.  To socialize, stay active, and stay remain healthy older adults.
