The Rusty Nail Gives Back

In a heartwarming tribute to the late Bob Gurd, the Sydenham Community Curling Club (SCCC) hosted the Rusty Nail Jitney on November 18, 2023. This Movember event, dedicated to celebrating Bob’s life and promoting men’s health awareness, brought together friends, family, and the community for a night of camaraderie on and off the ice and raise awareness particularly about prostate cancer.

Express Yourself, by Al Bechard and Kevin Wise, along with A L’il Bit of Everything Baking, generously sponsored the event. Their support allowed the Rusty Nail Jitney to become a reality and contributed to the success of the evening.

Pictured receiving the donation are John Olivera and Bob’s brother Jack Gurd of the Wallaceburg Prostate Cancer Support Group. From Left to Right are Becky Stoliker of A L’il Bit of Everything, Julie Van Damme (President of SCCC), Kevin Wise and Al Bechard of Express Yourself, John Olivera, and Jack Gurd, Janice Gurd (Bob’s wife), Jennifer Mireault and Rob Gurd (Two of Bob and Janice’s Children), and Granddaughter Kendra Gurd.

The Wallaceburg Prostate Cancer Support Group plays a vital role in raising awareness and providing support to those affected by prostate cancer. The generous donation from the Rusty Nail Jitney participants and sponsors will undoubtedly contribute to the group’s efforts in making a difference in the lives of those battling this health challenge.
